Fieldtrip: Harrison Lake FossilsDate Posted: February 18, 2008The BCLS will be hosting a fieldtrip to Harrison Lake for clam and belemnite fossils. While this trip involves a 30 km drive on a logging road it always makes for an excellent daytrip. You are pretty much guaranteed of finding specimens. Bring usual clothing, hammers, larger boulder cracking hammers, and chisels. Also bring along a lunch/snack and your camera! When: Saturday, March 15, 2008 Meeting place: 9:00 AM the Sasquatch Inn parking lot. The Sasqatch Inn is located on Highway #7 in Harrison Mills. This is also at the turn-off for the Hemlock Valley Ski area. If you don’t know where this is, check a map. You may end up being late and miss the group. Leader: Gord Pinder, 604-870-4779. If you plan on going it is recommended you call the group leader to ensure the event is still a go. For more information and a list of other upcoming fieldtrips, please see http://www.lapidary.bc.ca/trips.html. IMPORTANT: BC Wagon Masters will be asking all participants to "sign-in" acknowledging that the participant is indeed responsible for their own conduct and safety. Participants must be members in good standing of a club belonging to the B.C. Lapidary Society, be a member in good standing of a GMFC affiliate club or be a sponsored guest with a club member. Club members would include our neighbors from the US who belong to the US clubs, and who are always welcome on BC Wagonmaster trips. |
